The all new, third generation Toyota Yaris will have a more grown-up look when it goes on sale later this year, priced from £11,170.

Gearbox options will also include Toyota’s unique Multidrive S continuously variable CVT automatic system with manual override, a sequential seven-step mode operated either through the gear lever or with steering wheel mounted paddle shift – very much in keeping with its new sporty image.
Four option grades are T2, TR, SR and T Spirit and a cost effective multimedia connectivity package comes in the shape of Toyota’s ‘Touch and Go’ system. This provides touch screen controls for audio right from entry level with Bluetooth connection, USB port and rear reversing camera. Upgrades include full satellite navigation and internet information access for downloads through a dedicated Toyota customer portal.

A 1.33-litre Dual VVT-i engine lifted from theToyota iQ city car generates 98bhp at 6,000rpm and 92ft-lbs of pulling power at 4,000rpm. Mated to the Multidrive S transmission, fuel economy is predicted at 56.5mpg and CO2 emissions are 118g/km.
The 1.4-litre D-4D engine is matched to a six-speed manual transmission and produces 89bhp at 3,800rpm and maximum pulling power of 151ft-lbs between 1,800 and 2,800rpm. Combined fuel economy has been improved by seven per cent to 72.4mpg and CO2 emissions are six per cent lower at 104g/km.
The range kicks off with at £11,170 for the 1-litre T2 three door rising to £14,260 for the diesel in TR grade and topping out at £15,385 for the five door 1.33-litre Multidrive S in T Spirit guise.
